Dr. Volney W. Steele is a great grandson of Dr. Marion D. Steele through the linage of Dr. Marion Steele’s second wife.  Dr. Volney Steele was born December 23, 1922 in Decatur, Arkansas son of Rapheal Steele.  He graduated from the University of Arkansas Medical School in 1945 and served in the US Navy during WWII.  Thereafter he completed a residency in pathology and continued in that specialty until his death in 2016.  Most of his practice years were in Boseman, Montana.  He was known as an outdoors man and supporter of veterans returning from combat zones, was generous with his time and money and publisher of the book, Bleed, Blister, and Purge: A History of Medicine on the Western Frontier.
