His education and training includes graduating from Duke University, receiving an AB, in English 1978 – 1982. He graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine in 1986 and completed his family medicine residency at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine (Tulsa), 1986 – 1989.
